Allison Rager Joins Herd Softball Staff as Pitching Coach

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall softball welcomes Allison Rager as the new Pitching Coach, according to an announcement by Head Coach Morgan Zerkle on Thursday.

Rager, originally from Elkview, West Virginia, brings a wealth of coaching experience to the team. She most recently served on the coaching staff at Ole Miss and Athletes Unlimited. In addition to her coaching background, Rager holds a Masters of Science in Food and Nutrition Services, which she earned while working as a Graduate Assistant during her time at Ole Miss.

Her coaching journey includes previous positions at West Virginia State University and her alma mater, Carson-Newman University, where she completed her Masters of Business Administration in 2021.

Coach Zerkle expressed her enthusiasm for Rager’s addition to the team, emphasizing her West Virginia roots and commitment to recruiting dedicated players to join the Herd family. Rager’s passion for building strong relationships and developing pitchers makes her an excellent fit for the bullpen.

As a former standout player at Herbert Hoover High School, Rager received numerous accolades, including four-time All-State recognition and the title of 2014 State Player of the Year awarded by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

During her collegiate career, Rager showcased her pitching talents at Morehead State University for three seasons before transferring to Carson-Newman. Her skills on the mound earned her recognition, including being selected to the All-OVC Newcomer Team and earning First Team All-OVC honors.
