Spring Valley at Martinsburg Preview

The Spring Valley Timberwolves will make the arduous journey to the Eastern Panhandle on Friday evening to take on the #2 ranked Martinsburg Bulldogs. The series between the two teams has become quite the rivalry over the last half-decade, with three state title games and two regular-season matchups.

The Bulldogs hold the advantage over that span with three title wins, but Spring Valley holds a two-game winning streak over the perennial power. Martinsburg has only lost to two West Virginia teams since the 2015 football season, Capital High in 2015 and Spring Valley in 2020 and 2021. The Wolves are led by Junior Quarterback Dalton Fouch, who tied a career passing touchdown record with his 32nd strike. Fouch has record-holder Tyler Brown in just his first season as the starting signal-caller.

The game will be decided much as the first meeting was in October, turnover differential. The Bulldogs were uncharacteristically sloppy in the loss to the Wolves in week nine, turning the ball over five times. The Dogs are led by a dual quarterback system, with Ezra Bagent and Murphy Clement sharing duties. The two fantastic quarterbacks have combined for 38 passing touchdowns on the season.

Airtime for the matchup from Martinsburg is Friday night at 7:15 on 927. and 98.5 the Planet.
