The Marshall Basketball Transfers Keep Arriving

Both the women’s and men’s teams picked up new players last weekend

The job of building a roster in college basketball never stops, and that new reality came true this weekend for both Marshall basketball programs.

Thundering Herd men’s head coach Cornelius Jackson has added to his team’s backcourt depth with the commitments of junior college guard Alex Charlotin and Pacific University guard Emmanuel Manyoun.

The Marshall women also picked up a guard in Princess Cassell, who comes from NCAA Division II Cal State San Bernardino.

Charlotin is a 6-foot-4 guard with a 6-9 wingspan from Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Quebec, who played last season as a freshman at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Charlotin’s Ellsworth team went 28-8 last season, including 14-6 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

He played in only 17 games for the Panthers because of a late start to his season, but he averaged 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Charlotin shot better than 58% from the field but struggled at the free-throw line, shooting 53.1%.

Charlotin scored a season-high 22 points on Nov. 30 in a win at Northeast Community College. He missed most of Ellsworth’s games in January and February because of an injury.

Emmanuel Manyoun is a 6-2 guard from Austin, Minnesota, transferring to Marshall from West Coast Conference member Pacific.

Manyoun had limited playing time last season with the Tigers, appearing in only 14 games while scoring seven points and recording two steals. He played a total of 41 minutes during the season.

Manyoun’s Tigers went 18-15 last season, including 8-10 in the WCC.

Princess Cassell is a 5-9 guard from Eastvale, California, with two years of eligibility remaining.

Her 2025-26 season was special, as she started 24 games and played in every contest for the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes. Cassell averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and nearly two steals per game on the way to earning first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors.

Her best scoring night came on Jan. 4, when she scored 26 points in a win at San Francisco State.

Cassell was solid at the free-throw line, shooting 73.7%.

Cassell’s team struggled last season, finishing with a 12-15 record, which led to the firing of Coyotes head coach Casandro Renno.
