Clint Moak Named Sun Belt Baseball Pitcher of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall freshman Clint Moak has been named the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week after a standout performance in a 5-0 victory over No. 13 Southern Miss. Moak threw a complete-game shutout, allowing seven hits, two walks, and striking out four while keeping the Golden Eagles from scoring.

The right-hander from Hamilton, Ohio, induced three double plays in the game and worked his way out of several key situations, including stranding six runners on base. His effort helped Marshall secure its first series win over Southern Miss.

Moak has been a consistent presence for Marshall in his debut season, posting a 2.23 ERA through 32.1 innings. His performance against Southern Miss follows earlier victories over No. 15 Georgia Tech and No. 18 Troy, further solidifying his role as a key contributor for the Thundering Herd.

“I was just focused on making good pitches and getting ahead of hitters,” Moak said. “The defense behind me was excellent, and we had some big moments at the plate as well.”

Marshall head coach Greg Beals also praised Moak’s poise in the win. “Clint came out and showed why we’re so high on him. He’s proven time and again this season that he can handle big moments, and today he did just that,” Beals said.
